An awareness of clear direction can substitute for ego’s urgency and insistence. Think of motivation as a movement caused by thoughts that match the fear you seem to project outside of you. The fear seems to take the shape of all of these separate forms and figures that can be in peace for a while and then at war with one another. These forms and figures seem to be able to hurt and destroy, and they seem to be able to be the recipients of hurt and destruction. The motivation coming from fear that seems to move the figure you call you through this landscape seems to be normal and natural.
And now here you have what is actually natural for everyone–inspiration. If you go in–deep, deep within every form and figure and past their separateness to the vast and loving space where you all meet, to this place where conflict cannot exist–this is the birthplace of inspiration. You are always tuned in to either motivation or inspiration, and you know which one it is because of how you feel.
It must be noted that we can use the word “motivation” in a completely different way that reflects the whole of you. We are just temporarily using this word to show you that the thought that causes the perception of action and speech can come from two places. We’re here to advise you that to rest as often as you can in this shared, internal, eternal space is to be the recipient of the thought that causes the perception reminding you of who you truly are with all. You can dream of strife that peace opposes, or you can dream of peace showing you that it is unopposed.
Anything the ego uses for war can be used by Spirit to return all to the full awareness of peace. It doesn’t matter what you are currently seeing and experiencing. It doesn’t matter what the ego calls problem. It is only a symbol. Spirit can pick up that symbol and use it in a story that shows everyone being led out of all suffering. Simply give the symbols to Spirit, and you have done your job.
Peace is prior to and beyond any striving. When we say “prior to and beyond,” it almost seems outward. And then when we direct you internally, of course it seems inward. It’s both. As long as there seems to be an outward, this imagined screen upon which you are accustomed to projecting fear, Spirit can make use of the screen. Give all of fear’s symbols to Spirit to use, and they are in good hands.
Everything has a message of love to bring. If you look past the surface of anyone or anything, past it, past it, past it to where we are all joined eternally, then of course there is only love. Find the willingness within you to see how harmless and helpful it is to allow that message of love everyone and everything has to flow forth. Everyone and everything is as equally connected to love as you are. All of them are love, just as you are. It is only your projected screen of fear that tells you anyone or anything could be anything other than the love you are.
You are neither predator nor prey. They are not predators or prey. This is what is meant by the lion and the lamb. Strength and innocence are the same, and nowhere is attack to be found. That you have been dreaming of attack is undeniable, but dreams are not the substance. Dreams are not the real thing. Spirit uses your dream to point directly back to the real thing–the Home you never left. Give your dream in its entirety to Spirit, and all is well.
