The ego’s scale of highs and lows seems to be internal, but it is really fear projected outward. Go further in, and you find what is truly here to be relied upon. What is here to be relied upon is utterly stable. It cannot move about underneath you. It is you. Resting upon what you actually are, you can be offered guidance. Be patient with yourself as you learn how to rest in what is still, in what doesn’t come from what you see as your own movement and autonomy.
What you are is not discardable. It cannot disappear. It cannot go anywhere. It cannot be ultimately rejected. You can try to avoid the remembrance of it, but full remembrance of what you are is inevitable. It becomes more and more clear that the struggle to prevent seeing and remembering your Self as you truly are is unnecessary.
Instead of attempting to contradict the thoughts that seem to be in another’s mind, it is far more important to get into what you perceive to be your own mind to find one thought you believe. The thoughts that seem to be in the mind of another are a distraction held out for you to judge. You can get straight to the point and find out what you still believe. What you still believe is a defense held in place to keep selves separated in your sight and your experience. While you do not have to force behavior that you have decided is ideal, you can always stop to see the thoughts you believe. Looking upon them dissolves them, and as they dissolve, you remain totally protected and safe.
You can fuss on the surface, or you can rest in what is truly here. You can make a big deal about the apparent doings and sayings of yourself and all those you call other, or you can continue to look deeper. You are given every support as you stop to look.
You can observe that you seem to get a stimulant from separating, labeling, and organizing people, believing you understand them. There is a belief that you are safe if you know how to protect your separate self by labeling others and keeping a safe distance. You are not asked to rip down your safeguards–just to look upon them honestly. They will fall away under their own weight. You are only asked to have the patience to look. You need not manipulate your behavior in accordance with some ideal. No, just look. Just look at the place where the defensiveness and the self-protectiveness lives. Your looking is powerful.
We are here as you look, and we see how everything falls into place. We see how you discover what is here for you and all, and we see how you remember how to rely upon true safety in all things.
