Beyond the reflection

Narcissus can look beyond the reflection to what is behind it. Narcissus is fascinated with his reflection, which is hypnotic. But at any moment that you are willing to wake up out of the hypnotism, you can be aware of the presence behind the reflection. Everywhere you seem to look in the world of time and space, there is a hypnotic reflection. With awareness of what is ever-present behind this illusion, the form the reflection takes need not matter to you.

Narcissism is a misapprehension about what you are. It’s a simple misidentification that can take very complex forms. The power that gave you the ability to imagine this misidentification is unopposed, and it is this very power that wakes you up to your ability to see beyond what you made to entrance.

Acknowledge that the misapprehension is yours, and then you won’t have to see it in forms that seem to cavort outside of what you call yourself. Get directly to the point, always. You are always the imaginer of the hallucination that seems to mean something. It is most powerful to claim responsibility for the fantasy, because in doing so you claim the Selfhood that is present within everyone and everything.

We can go from narcissism to narc. Tell on yourself. When you notice that your peace has been disturbed, it can only be disturbed if you have become entranced. Tell on yourself by finding a thought that entranced you. What do you believe? It cannot possibly be true, even and especially if perception seems to prove that it is. Tell on yourself, and bring the thought to the light. Rest in what truly is here. Rest in what can take care of the clean-up of your perception. It is not the clean-up of anything real. It is only the clean-up of your perception, so you can take it very lightly. Dedicate your whole Self to it, and yet take it very lightly.

To make yourself someone’s victim is a disservice to them. How can you claim your whole Selfhood if you have put one piece over here and another piece over there? You can’t. So relax into the remembrance of what allows the clean-up. The only problem you can have is a hallucination, and the cure for that is a rest cure. Tell yourself this: I have been pretending that I can do something to myself. I am ready to remember what is true now.

We are here and so happy to remind you of what is true, to show you how simple the reminding is, and how there is never any reason to delay. Let this be a day of resting and remembering.
