The ego gives you a governor, or a perceived ability to control behavior, because it says you are bad, and bad behavior must be controlled. It can give you other and opposite evaluations and reasons, but let’s look here now. Remember that ego always tells you what you are as separate, and Spirit always shows you and helps you to experience what you are together. There is a flow that can carry all of you through every experience, and it’s here to be tuned into. It is within everyone and everything. When you know how to tune into this flow, there is nothing else to figure out. Everything is figured out, arranged, aligned and provided from here.
From the ego’s perspective, your separate safety and well-being must be defended. Following from this premise, ego sends thoughts that analyze, evaluate and separate everything you seem to see and experience. Ego sends thoughts that instruct you in how to keep your separate sense of self, and that of others, intact and maintained. This is what ego is programmed to do–to maintain that sense of separation, not to provide actual happiness or safety. It tells you that maintaining this sense of separation is your happiness and safety, and that of others.
And now here you are, aware of all this programming, emerging from it, still feeling and following the temptation to follow it. And here also is something else–this beautiful, loving flow to which you have always had access. You can decide to deny yourself access to this flow, but now you know how it feels when you do that. When you look out in the world or toward a person and decide that there is one particular thing causing your disquiet, then you have only temporarily cut off your access to this flow. Remember that the flow is here for everyone at all times, and you help to make everyone’s access obvious.
Let’s look at the idea of ego telling you that you are bad. It has pinned you down, isolated you, judged you. And now from here in this point of isolation, it sends you instructions. Instructions are always available from that which recognizes that you share equal innocence and worthiness with all. A view of those you call other is always available that demonstrates to you this presence of equal innocence and worthiness. When you want nothing more than to see the actual and real innocence of those you call other, then this is what you will see.
Ego is going to tell you to control your life. It’s going to tell you that if you don’t control your life, then everything is going to go totally out of control. You only need to notice how this feels to understand whether or not this is good advice. What is here and present within (or behind) everyone and everything you seem to see is waiting patiently for you. The idea of a separate sense of control is an illusion. It is an illusion that Spirit can back you out of very kindly and gently. The more you become aware of that stability, kindness, and love that is glowing within everyone and everything, the more you trust it to lead. This truth present everywhere can send you thoughts, just as ego can. These thoughts do not disturb. Only the thoughts from ego that attempt to lead you in a different direction disturb. Clear and obvious. This is the quality of thoughts that reach you from what you all are together.
Ego is also going to tell you that you can’t control your life and to just let go. In some areas of your life, it will encourage you to believe that you are in control. In some areas of your life, ego will encourage you to to believe that you have no control. Instead of believing in these opposites, be aware of gentle, harmonious control–the thoughts that cause perception of your harmonious flow together. This cannot be emphasized enough. Thoughts cause perception. Thoughts cause perception. Perception doesn’t just exist by itself, apart from you.
Think of structured guidance coming to you. There is order and arrangement and flow built into it. This structured guidance is available to all, and even everything. Know that the conduit to this divine order is present within everyone and everything, and you have every reason to be calm, focused, and assured. Think of this divine guidance flowing through what you call the weather, for example. Through a building. Through a gathering of people. Focusing in the right way, resting in safety, there is no need to anticipate an outcome that would be out of harmony. Rest in what is present within everyone and everything, and there is nothing to disturb you.
There is someone you forgot to trust in long ago, but there is someone you’re learning to trust in now. That someone is you. It is everyone you call else. It is God. You can’t really separate God from that one over there. You can’t really separate God from you. You can only pretend this separation has occurred and live as if separation has occurred. When you feel not-good, you are living as if a separation has occurred, as if you are a separate entity who has to struggle and watch and evaluate to protect its own self-interests. When you live from this place, you see everyone you call else doing the same. You always have an alternative, and the alternative is right here within you.
We light up what is true and real in everyone and everything you see. When you are willing see, you will experience it as an always-trustworthy guide.
