If you would like some help in focusing and allowing ego (simulated identity) to evaporate, these practices are offered not as a requirement, but as an aid. Take them lightly, go where you are drawn, and give yourself a rest when you feel struggle. Soon the rest you seek will be in the Reality of what we are, which is exactly where these practices lead you.
