Whatever you think you need in and from the world, seeing through facades is something you need more. The ego values the surface of everything—what it says it means, what it says you can get from it, what impact it says it has on your future. Ego sends many distracting thoughts indicating that you control your little corner of the world, and you must depend on ego’s values and ego’s analysis to make your way through your day.
Meanwhile, here is the light, shining behind all facades. Think of going directly to the light in all things, recognizing its presence in and behind all things. The light can supply you with all the thoughts you need. Remember that thoughts not only come to you through your day; they also determine what you perceive and how you feel. The form of what you see and experience is constructed by thoughts believed. Allowing the building blocks of everything you experience to come from what you all are together–this is what you are here to do.
Whatever you think you need to do in the world, resting for a moment is something you need to do more. The ego distracts, insists, and pushes. Spirit inspires. The more you can become accustomed to resting in what seems like nothing to the ego, the more you open yourself up to the thoughts that will be helpful to you and all those you call other. When you feel a pushy insistence, it may turn out to be Spirit in the end, but stop to feel first. Is it a strong encouragement, or is there fear present? Even when Spirit’s inspiration feels like more of a push than a gentle nudge, it won’t carry the same signature of tension, stress, and fear that ego’s directives cannot hide. This is what discernment is all about. It’s not about judging anyone or anything “out there.” Discernment is about understanding which thoughts to follow and which thoughts call for you to rest and reorient toward what is real.
Resources can take form. While what you are and what everyone you call else is–all of that together–is formless, the language of form can be used by two teachers. Your job is to choose Holy Spirit consistently as your teacher. You truly do have this power because all do. If you find yourself in a world, ask Spirit to use the language of form to use the whole world as a classroom to teach you what you need to know. If you find yourself in a workplace, ask Spirit to use the entirety of all symbols present in the workplace to arrange everything as it should be for the benefit of all. Again, you truly do have this power. If you find yourself in a store, orient yourself toward Spirit’s use of every symbol you encounter. You do not have to invest symbols with conflicting meaning and value. You can allow the whole to flow as the whole.
The ego sends thoughts about a separate self believing it controls real things. This separate self is an illusion. You truly do not have to worry about it. Give yourself the luxury of stopping to rest whenever one of these insane thoughts of self-concern occurs to you. Truly, your flow does not need to be interrupted by this madness. You and all are given everything you need. Similarly, notice the tightness that comes in when you contemplate controlling anything from the perspective of a separate self. To relax out of this net of illusion is to assist everyone you call else in doing the same. Open to the inspiration that carries you, and you offer it to all.
Ego’s thoughts say that a separate thing is real, and then also that something that opposes that separate self is real. Notice when ego has set up a fantasy of one separate thing opposing another thing that seems to be separate and against it. Here is where fantasy is active in your mind. Don’t be fooled. See the same light behind what ego presents as opposites. Recognize it. Rest in it. Remember that is is you. It is everyone you call else. Now remember that in truth there is no opposition or conflict anywhere, even if you continue to see it.
Focus on the idea that you no longer need to be fooled. You have no need for form to tell you ridiculous and untrue stories in order to distract you into judging something “over there” because you are completely fulfilled by what is right here. Practice in this way, and you will notice that you truly do have a gentle, benevolent, powerful dominion over everything you see and experience. Your dominion affects what you see and experience, but it doesn’t dominate or force it. It is a simple recognition of your oneness with everyone and everything, and an allowing everything to fall into place.
