I am learning about responsibility. I am learning to remove the shackles of a demand for a response from others and from myself.
I am learning about response-ability. I am learning that I am able to respond in any situation. As I learn that about myself, I see it in others. More than that, as we know it is the truth of others, we draw that ability from them. It is able to blossom in our presence because we believe in them.
We are able to believe in them when we drop our specific expectations about what we want from them. We are able to drop our specific expectations about what we want from them when we realize how painful our expectations are.
Do we have to learn from pain? No. But this is the world of duality that we have built out of fear. As we gain clarity, we will pass through painful and joyful moments, through laughter and tears. It’s helpful to learn to accept each one as a gift that leads to freedom, an opportunity to release the old and see something new.
